Our Clinicians

Dr Jo Guiney

BA MSc DClinPsychSenior Clinical Psychologist

Jo is a Chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), the regulatory body for Clinical Psychologists.

Education

Jo has over 10 years of experience working with both adults and children struggling with a wide range of difficulties within a broad range of settings. She has worked in both in-patient and out-patient settings including Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Following completion of her doctoral training Jo has worked in various services within the NHS as a Specialist Clinical Psychologist offering assessments and evidence-based treatments (including CBT, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Brief Psychodynamic Psychotherapy) as well as consultation and teaching to other health care professionals. She has also worked in a major NHS teaching hospital (UCLH) as part of the antenatal team specialising in the treatment of psychological difficulties specifically related to, or exacerbated by, pregnancy and childbirth.

Jo has rich and diverse clinical experience of offering psychotherapy that is tailored to both the individual’s needs and preferences, as well as the current evidence-base.

Jo’s clinical experience is in addition to her academic research experience which focused on the impact of stress on adolescent brain development. She has authored and co-authored a range of publications focusing on brain development and attachment theory.
