Our clinicians are available to talk through your concerns over the phone and can advise as to whether therapeutic help might be beneficial. We offer appointments throughout the day and run evening clinics throughout the week, including Saturdays. We are also able to offer sessions via Zoom where we feel this is clinically appropriate.

Partnerships

The Anchor Practice is home to the Edinburgh branch of the Autism Assessment Hub - a private Autism and ADHD assessment service offering gold-standard neurodiversity assessment for children, adolescents and adults.

AAH offer gold standard assessments for both Autism Spectrum Condition and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, that accord with national guidelines for best practice. As of 2026, 100% of AAH diagnoses are recognised as valid by NHS services - this high level of accuracy if assessment allows families to have confidence in the assessments that they offer.

We are proud to work in partnership with Merchiston Castle School, offering consultation, reflective practice sessions for staff, and clinical services for pupils and families.

This partnership reflects Merchiston Castle School’s ongoing commitment to pupil welfare inside and outside the classroom, and draws on the particular strengths and experience of The Anchor Practice clinicians in working with school-aged young people and organisational systems.

The Anchor Practice is proud to be an Organisational Member of the Psychotherapy Action Network (PsiAN)

PsiAN is an international advocacy group whose priority is to provide education, support and advocacy in the field of depth psychotherapy. At a time when public and private services alike are dominated with short term, surface level psychological therapies, PsiAN carefully snd effectively disseminates the evidence base that demonstrates the efficacy and value of depth based approaches to psychotherapy, and advocates for broader provision of these effective treatment across society.

Since 2020, our Clinical Director, Mr Paul Bell has been a visiting lecturer at the Department of Psychology within The University of Edinburgh’s School of Health in Social Science.

Mr Bell lecturers on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology course, where he teaches Psychodynamic Approaches to Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy. Anchor Practice clinicians are committed to maintaining professional development, and take pride in passing on their knowledge to the next generation of mental health professionals.

All of our Child Psychotherapists are accredited with the Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP), and many continue to teach on clinical and pre-clinical training courses recognised by the ACP across the UK.

The ACP is the accrediting body responsible for training and maintaining standards for Child Psychotherapists working within the NHS.
