The Anchor Practice
If you feel you or your family could be helped by talking through a mental health issue or you feel that psychotherapeutic input might be right for you, then please do get in touch. Our clinicians are available to talk through your concerns over the phone and can advise as to whether therapeutic help might be beneficial. We offer appointments throughout the day and run evening clinics throughout the week, including Saturdays. We are also able to offer sessions via Skype where we feel this is clinically appropriate.
Please note we are not an emergency service, and are unable to offer urgent on the day appointments. If you or the person you are enquiring about is in crisis, or there are concerns around immediate safety, please see your GP urgently, or attend your local accident and emergency department.
Our Edinburgh clinic is located at 26 Forth Street, just a 4 minute walk from Edinburgh Waverley train station. The clinic is well served by local bus routes (No. 8, 16, 10, 11, 16, 29, 31) as well as tram lines, and there is on street metered parking available outside.
Send a enquiry
After we receive your enquiry, you will be offered an initial session in which we will think in detail about the current issue. Following this session our usual practice would be to offer an assessment over three sessions, to work out if psychotherapy is likely to be helpful for you or your child. Assessments for adolescents and adults will involve only the relevant person, but assessments for children will involve parents, and on occasion, other resident family members (such as siblings) if we feel it would be helpful.
Sessions last 50 minutes.
Our fees vary depending on indicated treatment. Your therapist will discuss fees with you at your first session.
At The Anchor Practice we believe that high quality psychotherapeutic care should be made accessible to all sectors of society, and as such we offer a limited number of reduced fee psychotherapy and pro-bono consultation spaces, for low-waged families or those in receipt of housing benefit. Please contact us if you would like to discuss this option.
Private Health Insurance
We are registered with several of the major private health insurers including AXA, Aviva, Allianz, Healix and Vitality, and many of our treatments are covered by the policies offered by these providers. If you would like to fund treatment through your insurance please call for details and eligibility.
Please note we operate a strict cancelation policy, and any appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours-notice will be charged in full.
