About

The Anchor Practice

The Anchor Practice is a specialist mental health clinic providing psychotherapy and clinical psychology for children, adolescents, young adults and families. Set up by highly experienced clinicians, it is based in Edinburgh, with clinical appointments offered in the city.

The Anchor Practice provides thorough assessment and evidence-based treatment for a wide range of mental health difficulties in children and young people, whilst ensuring our clients are at the heart of all we do.

Expertise and experience

Our clinicians are trained to the highest levels of child, adolescent and adult mental health care and have substantial experience working within NHS provisions as well as the charity sector and private practice.

Evidence and research

Our clinicians are trained in well-researched, evidence-based treatments, many of which are recommended by National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines as front-line treatments for a variety of mental health difficulties in children, adolescents and young adults. This can afford peace of mind for those looking for the right interventions for their children or themselves. For more information on the evidence base for psychotherapy, click here.

Personal and thorough

Many of our patients have experienced episodes of care which they felt were too short or insufficiently able to get to the bottom of their difficulties. Our clinicians are trained in thorough, long term models of clinical psychotherapy, and offer treatments that reflect this depth of training.

Flexible and responsive

We understand that pressures on statutory services mean that it can feel difficult to obtain an appointment for yourself or your child in a timely manner. We aim to respond to all phone or email enquiries within 48 hours, and in most cases can offer an initial appointment within 5 working days.

Our clinicians

We provide a responsive, evidence-based service for those seeking support with their own mental health, or that of a family member.
